Mukul M. Sharma is currently Full Professor and W. A. "Tex" Moncrief, Jr. Centennial Chair in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He received B.Sc. from the Indian Institute of Technology (1980), M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Southern California. He has been affiliated with UT Austin's PGE department from 1985. He has graduated more than 100 students and currently oversees a group of approximately 20 students.
Notable awards include the 1983 Best SPE PhD student paper, the 1998 SPE Formation Evaluation Award, the Lester C. Uren Award and the SPE Anthony F. Lucas Gold Medal in 2009.
